Arrival at Colombo Bandaranayake International Airport, a representative will warmly welcome you and transfer you from the airport to Kandy through Pinnawala. Pinnawala is where you can observe the most extensive collection of elephants captive anywhere in the world in one location. Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage is a nursery, orphanage and captive breeding site home to wild Asian elephants in Pinnawala village. The orphanage was established to care for and protect the countless orphaned and wild elephants who were unweaned close to and in forest areas in Sri Lanka.
