The Sigiriya Rock Fort is very striking. The rock walls ascend to a height of 200 meters, where they end in a level plateau. A number of breathtaking frescos can be seen when climbing the steep stairwells to the summit. The ruins of an old civilization, including artifacts from a palace and monastery, can be found near the summit.
