This is a beautiful hike along the river through the tea fields and bamboo forest. The trail then continues to a platform where the river spills into the valley. This is a challenging and versatile hike, but you will be rewarded with an amazing view and stunning scenery. The Knuckles Mountain Range is in the Matale and Kandy districts in central Sri Lanka. The range’s name comes from the recumbent folds in the western part of the massif that resemble the knuckles on a clenched hand when viewed at specific Kandy district locations. Clouds often cover the higher montane areas. In 2010, the Central Highlands region of Sri Lanka, which includes Knuckles Conservation Forest, was added to UNESCO’s list of natural world heritage sites. The Knuckles range of mountains has 34 peaks that vary in height from 1900 meters to 900 meters. The British in Ceylon called the mountain range Knuckles because five high mountain peaks formed the shape of a fist.
